About Frances

Frances Barker, (Moodymetals), has a growing reputation for designing and making stunning pieces of jewellery.

After studying art and photography at Brockenhurst College Frances completed a foundation national diploma in art and design at The Bournemouth Arts Institute. Here she evolved a passion for working in 3D and experimenting with metals.

Working in industry Frances developed her skills and gained valuable experience as a metalwork finisher for a specialist company making commissioned lamps and lanterns for interior designers. Acid etching, patinating and developing painting techniques where amongst many of the skills Frances acquired.

Her interest in jewellery design and making grew after following a part time jewellery course in the New Forest. From here ‘Moodymetals’ was born to feed her passion and enthusiasm for creating her own visions and ideas; she hasn’t looked back since.

‘The most rewarding thing about creating jewellery is being able to give people the chance to wear something nobody else will have, something unique, which is both aesthetically beautiful, and of real sentimental value.'

Frances works to commission for both men and women and also teaches alongside friends Jess & Al Marshall at Flux'n'Flame, where her jewellery making was first inspired.
